Sexuality

I've been managing the sexuality channel on videosift for some time now. I wanted to manage a channel about a topic close to my heart and I thought it would be a popular one for videosift members. I think it does get a lot of traffic and there have been many great videos posted on the channel so far, prompting all kinds of discussion.

My favourites are usually the condom ads or hilarious parodies. I also like videos which get people really discussing topics that challenge social taboos and the like. I hope that from these discussions, people may start to realise how they operate from within the confines of conditioning and possibly consider alternative viewpoints. I've discovered that I don't always have a widened perspective on various topics, after watching videos and reading comments and I hope this happens for others too.

I have also felt very discouraged by some comments and videos posted on the sift, as well as my channel. When guys make throw-away disparaging comments about women, it reminds me that not all men have respect for, or a positive relationship with women and that there really is a gender war, waging away in the world.

I know the comments on videosift are nothing like a lot of garbage you can find on sites like youtube, but still the sexist ones are very discouraging. Brian posted the video linked below, after it was discarded, for being a self-link. I like it a lot, so have linked it here.

I like the ideas it shares, regarding the role of promiscuity. Anything that seems to give reason for fairly typical adult behaviour in scientific terms, that takes away the moralistic sting that my family upbringing has left on me, helps me understand and accept myself more as a human being.
